Game developer Mojang last year unexpectedly announced that it was working on Minecraft Dungeons -- a blocky take on classic dungeon crawlers. We are now aware of when it will finally arrive. The game was originally planned for release in 2019, however Microsoft now claims it will be available on Xbox One, PC and Switch in April 2019.
The game boasts the distinctive Minecraft appearance and feel, but it flips the series' traditional formula completely upside down. Instead of letting players play with their imaginations on a vast and wide canvas, Dungeons is an adventure game full of quests, characters and items, and can be played by up to four people online.
Mojang's Dungeons is a passion project however it's not the only Minecraft spin-off. Mojang was also responsible for Minecraft: Story Mode, the story-driven adventure game that was pretty popular when it was first launched in 2015.
